Joe Gallagher is Publisher & CEO of Rainbow Skull LLC.
In early 2000, while still in high school, Joe began his publishing career when he started Mushroom Cloud Press in Orlando, FL. From its origins copying & stapling one book at a time at Kinko’s, MCPress has become the leading dramatic publisher of short scripts for high school performers. Students from across the USA have won state and national competitions using MCPress plays, and the company has given dozens of young playwrights the opportunity to be published for the first time. Mushroom Cloud Press is now an imprint of Rainbow Skull.
From 2009-2012, Joe was Producing Artistic Director of Big Rodent, a theatrical production company he co-founded in NYC with a group of dramatic artists. He served as executive producer on a number of Off-Off-Broadway shows, with a focus on reimagining classic plays from the likes of Shakespeare and Wilde as taut dramas set in modern history.
During his time in NYC, Joe worked in publishing at NYU and Penguin Random House. He helped launch books by Colson Whitehead, Margaret Atwood, Kevin Kwan, Dan Brown, John Grisham, and many more bestsellers and literary legends. From 2007-2008, Joe was the poetry editor of Redivider Magazine at Emerson College.
In 2015, Joe founded the indie music podcast Savage Beast with his comrade Paul McLeod. The podcast now has over 100 episodes and dozens, yes dozens of fans.
Joe lives with his family in Maryland.
